Origin of Covers

This term was first used to refer to a single that was released just after the original one to compete with it. Then the meaning changed. Cover became a word to talk about a version of a song made by another artist. In the first generations lots of bands and artists became famous thanks to that technique.

This was first done in the 60’s by some famous singers and bands, who used to play other people songs in their concerts. In some occasion the covers became more successful than the original song like the cover of Blue Suede Shows made by Elvis Presley that got over its original version done by Carl Perkins.

Since the invention of youtube in 2005 lots of things have changed, covers too. Now unknown people record songs of other artists and upload their versions to youtube so it can be seen by millions of people. These people are called youtubers, whose job is uploading videos.

There are a lot of different types of youtubers, we have the gamers, the singers (the ones that normally perform the covers), the comedians, etc…
